Toolbox-designed Wall Street Journal publication is presented with two AEP awards
San Antonio, TX – Award-wining branding firm Toolbox Studios is pleased to announce that the agency’s ongoing work on The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition has earned the publication two national awards, including the Best Article and Whole Publication design in the high school category, at the 2011 Association of Educational Publisher’s (AEP) awards gala in Washington, DC last week.
"I'm particularly proud of these design awards," said Toolbox creative director Paul Soupiset. "The November 2010 edition, cited for its strong cover-to-cover design, really shows off the hard work of our whole creative team."
He continued, "The design award for 'How Green are your Jeans' spotlights an example of a very intentional visual treatment of an article. In this case, the story shed light on the environmental impact of the clothes that we all wear. Using photo-illustrations, maps, and icons, we helped the reader trace the international routes of the cotton, metal, leather, and other pieces that go into making a single pair of jeans. We had hoped the design would call attention to the article's potential social impact, so it’s an honor to receive this accolade."
In 2008 Dow Jones & Company asked Toolbox to redesign the publication in a manner that was both relevant to high school students and consistent with The Wall Street Journal’s existing branding. Distributed nationwide to over one million teenagers and teachers each month, the full-color newspaper helps secondary educators integrate business news into their daily lessons.
Toolbox director of operations, Jason Sousa, said that Toolbox is excited about the opportunity to provide another year’s worth of art direction and design for The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition, marking the fourth year of Toolbox’s partnership with The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition.
