Toolbox-designed Wall Street Journal publication repeats win for AEP high school Periodical of the Year

AEP awards

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Toolbox Studios has again earned national recognition for its work on The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition, winning Periodical of the Year in the high school category earlier this week at the Association of Education Publishers' (AEP) gala in Washington, DC. Toolbox president Rob Simons was on hand with the Classroom Edition staff to celebrate the win.

Since its August 2008 redesign by Toolbox, the Classroom Edition has garnered nine AEP awards including last year's nod for Most Improved Publication and back-to-back wins for Periodical of the Year.

"This is a proud moment for our publication, but also a wonderful tribute to the entire Journal staff and our design team at Toolbox Studios," said managing editor Krishnan Anantharaman.  "It's an honor to be able to share their work with hundreds of thousands of students across the country."

Classroom Edition creative director Paul Soupiset said "It's great to see our print design work and the Classroom Edition’s editorial expertise appreciated and recognized. This year’s awards are another testament to the strength of the collaborative work that goes into making each edition a reality."

The Classroom Edition also won Best Editorial for an Allen Barra piece on sports salaries, and Best Interview/Profile for Dennis Nishi’s Q&A with a reality-TV producer.

The Publication has become a joint success for Toolbox Studios and the Wall Street Journal. Starting this fall, the monthly Classroom Edition newspaper will be circulated in more than 9,000 high schools and middle schools across the country, with a growing readership estimated at 1 million students.
