Toolbox-designed Wall Street Journal publication wins AEP high school Periodical of the Year

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Award-winning branding firm Toolbox Studios is pleased to announce that the agency’s redesign strategy, editorial collaboration and production for The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition has earned the publication six national awards, including the coveted high school Periodical of the Year, at the 2009 Association of Educational Publisher’s (AEP) awards gala in Washington, DC earlier this month.

Toolbox Youth Media Account Director Paul Soupiset, who attended the gala with Classroom Edition staff, commented, “It was a wonderful night to celebrate the redesign of the Classroom Edition and to acknowledge all of the ongoing editorial, design and production work that goes into producing each edition. It is always gratifying to have our clients recognized for design and editorial excellence. These awards stand as an example of how the Toolbox processes for developing our clients’ youth-focused brands create success stories.”

Toolbox was selected by Dow Jones & Company in August 2008 to redesign the publication in a manner that was both relevant to high school students and consistent with The Wall Street Journal's existing branding. Distributed nationwide to 700,000 teens each month, the full-color newspaper helps secondary educators integrate business news into daily lessons.

The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition received the following awards:

  • 2009 Distinguished Achievement Awards Periodical of the Year, 9-12
  • Most Improved, 9-12, Classroom Edition Redesign
  • Best Cover Design, 9-12, “The Simple Life”
