Toolbox sponsors Golden Gloves event to support local Boys and Girls Club

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Toolbox Studios is proud to support the Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio as a sponsor of the 71st annual Golden Gloves Tournament, the premier amateur boxing event of Golden Gloves of America, Inc.

For more than 86 years, the Golden Gloves of America and its thirty member franchises have “led the way in promoting amateur boxing in the United States and have produced the majority of competitors for America’s boxing teams in the Pan-Am and Olympic Games,” according to the organization’s MySpace page. Locally, the San Antonio franchise hosts an annual regional tournament, an event the San Antonio Express-News deems, “a highly entertaining and eagerly anticipated event, the biggest on the local boxing calendar.” The tournament also serves as one of the biggest fundraising events for local non-profit, Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio, which provides for the educational, social and moral development of San Antonio’s young people.

The partnership is a great fit, says Roy Terracina, honorary chairman of this year's event. “Boxing teaches focus, discipline, [and] it teaches structure. There are many life lessons kids can learn from boxing.” He continued, “As in life, when you get knocked down in boxing you have to decide whether to stay down or get back up.”

Toolbox donated design services for the event invitation and program, and is a Featherweight-level sponsor. Toolbox president, Rob Simons, is also supporting the event through his involvement as president of the San Antonio Chapter of the Entrepreneur Organization (EO), which is a presenting sponsor for the tournament.
