Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition debuts redesign
New Look Designed by Toolbox Studios
SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition, an educational, national program from The Wall Street Journal, was recently redesigned by branding agency Toolbox Studios to ensure a new look that is both accessible to students and consistent with the Journal's existing branding.
The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition program comprises a full-color monthly newspaper that incorporates articles from The Wall Street Journal, as well as curriculum materials to help educators integrate news from the business world into their lessons.
Toolbox Studios created the redesign and will produce each issue of the Journal’s Classroom Edition, which is distributed to nearly 5,000 high-school business and civics classrooms nationwide each month during the school year, reaching an audience of 700,000 students.
"Once we made our initial redesign recommendations, prototypes of Classroom Edition were printed and put in front of high school students and their teachers," said Paul Soupiset, youth media director, Toolbox Studios. "We integrated that focus group data with feedback from the Journal to fine-tune a new, relevant periodical that will encourage subscriptions, resonate with readers, and still honor a venerable brand."
"Toolbox created a look that’s fresh, youthful and contemporary, while still respecting The Wall Street Journal's heritage," said Krishnan Anantharaman, managing editor, The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition. "That’s always a tough challenge, and they executed it very well. We’re delighted with the results. I’m sure our subscribers will be as well."
