Toolbox founder elected President of Entrepreneur's Organization
SAN ANTONIO, TX — Beginning on July 1, 2008, Toolbox Studios president and founder, Rob Simons, will assume the role of president of the San Antonio chapter of the Entrepreneur’s Organization (EO).
Founded nationally in 1987, EO is a global network of more than 6,600 business owners, all of whom run companies that exceed $1M (US) in revenue. The mission of the non-profit organization is to engage leading entrepreneurs to learn and grow through executive education, networking and access to unique business learning events. The San Antonio chapter was founded in 1993 and currently boasts close to 60 members, including Graham Weston and Morris Miller of Rackspace, Doug Harrison of the Scooter Store, Rick Rodriguez of Magi Real Estate and Erik Darmstetter of Sales by 5. Collectively, the local San Antonio EO chapter has a community impact of over $280 million in sales and employs over 4,100 employees.
A member since 2003, Simons initially passed on his first EO invitation in 2001. He reconsidered as he learned more about the organization and those involved. “I started to notice that many of the local business leaders that I looked up to were members.” Now, Simons considers the network invaluable, saying, “It’s the only group I’ve ever been associated with that is committed to helping me grow in my business and personal life.“
During the 2007-2008 chapter year, Simons served as the Learning Chair, in which he planned and held twenty-four learning and social events. Speakers included Wendy Clark, SVP Marketing for AT&T (att.com); David Russell, Founder of Success with People (successwithpeople.com); Christina Harbridge-Law, Founder of Allegory Training (allegorytraining.com); and acclaimed speaker David Fabricius (www.davidfabricius.com).
As president, Simons will lead a group of seven board members as they oversee recruitment, learning events, social events, accounting, sponsorship and the peer-to-peer experience.
