New account manager adds technology savvy and customer support

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Toolbox Studios, San Antonio’s largest communication design firm, added Debra Barnes to the Account Service Team this week. As Toolbox’s newest account manager, Barnes will help the firm provide an even greater level of customer service and responsiveness.

Barnes comes to Toolbox with over 20 years of project management expertise, starting with a 10-year stint at Apple Computer during the company’s groundbreaking era in the ‘80s. Most recently, Barnes served as a regional analyst at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), which resides at the University of Texas San Antonio. At SBDC, Barnes managed BidMatch, a bid notification program for helping small business owners secure government contracts, particularly through military base realignments. Barnes worked in SBDC’s Technology Center and supported 10 field centers serving the southwest Texas region.

“Debra’s technical background and corporate experience make her a great fit for Toolbox,” said President Rob Simons. “She is adept at working with technical teams, like our web developers, and non-technical clients and translating requirements into workable schedules and estimates that all parties can understand.”

In addition to supporting the senior account managers with internal tasking and client follow-up, Barnes will help Toolbox implement new internal processes and procedures to streamline the firm’s workflow. “I am excited to be here and contribute to Toolbox’s growth,” said Barnes. “I like the fast pace at Toolbox. It reminds me of Silicon Valley.”

Barnes holds an MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
